I have a 5 year old son. He is an extremely bright little boy with mountains of talent and potential. I would like to teach him what little I know about entrepreneurship whenever I could. I plan on having garage sales and setting up lemonade stand. My boy is a little bit…okay, a lot on the active side. We would tell him, not to jump, and he would jump…we tell him to calm down, and he would be loud..we tell him to goto sleep, and he would want to play…we tell him to eat, and he would rather watch tv. As frustrated as we maybe…we never give up. We tell him the same thing, teach him the same lessons, day in and day out.

And one day, like today..a little miracle occurred. This morning, my wife and I sleep in for a little bit. Usually we don’t get to do that because my son and my daughter would come and bother us. But not today. When we came down stair we were pleasantly surprised. My son cleaned up all his toys. The living room hasn’t been this clean since the last time our housekeeper came. Afterward, we went for lunch at Spaghetti Factory. My boy ate his food without us having to yell at him or tell him not to do this or that. He sat and ate his meal. He is a very good boy today. My son has finally growing up.

Likewise, with my websites…I would build it up. Market it online…day in and day out. All the while, seeing very little success if any. As frustrated and disappointed as I feel, I keep doing it..day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year….and one day months ago I notice on the Google Analytics that Google organic search has become my #1 source of traffic. I looked at my affiliate account, and notice I am generating revenues everyday. I looked at my Google Adsense account, and I notice I am generating clicks everyday. And, finally, I looked at my bank account and I notice there are thousands of dollars where there used to be only $100. Mine..mine..mine..how sweet it is.

This is my little success story along the way. Remember if you build it, and market it day in and day out, someday, one day, they will come. Hope your weekend was as good as mine.

My son said to me tonight…

Dad if you miss me, you don’t have to come up stair to see me, Just look at my beautiful toys.

I read tld.org for the past few months and was extremely impressed with the websites that the author has launched described in his blog. There are many talented people making money online, but, he is the guy I wish to emulate. From my beginner’s assessment, he impressed me the most with his online technical and marketing skills; and his creativity to put them together. He was kind enough to share a few tips with me. I intend to follow his tips and see what happen. Hope you find it helpful too.

1. Don’t make your second site until your first site is making you whatever you want it to make. If you can’t make $0.25/day with site 1, don’t start site 2. Figure out how to get site 1 working and once you are happy with the outcome then just duplicate it.

2. Keyword research is the most important part of the process. You can use a software that costs some money like Market Samuri, or you can use the Google Adwords tool. I have/use both, but you really don’t need market samuri until you take it up a notch.

3. Keyword research is the most important part of the process (Yes, I’m knowingly saying this again). Goal = find keywords that get a respectable amount of searches that don’t have a ton of competition in Google. If a keyword gets 500 searches a day and has only 25,000 other sites returning in Google’s results that is a winner.

My wife ordered me a Verizon iPhone on Feb 9th, and I finally received the phone from UPS today. It was worth the wait. I am a pretty low tech kind of guy. But iPhone was a gadget that has been on my wishlist for years. Thanks to Apple, Verizon, and mostly my wife, I finally have my hands on an iPhone. Yeeppie!

I stepped through some of the functions and it was quite slick. My favorite for now is the email function where I can synch up multiple email accounts. With a touch of the button I can check my email from an individual email accounts or view email from all my accounts via “All Inboxes”. Nice!  I tried out the web browser (Safari) and notice that there was a button with .COM as the default extension. I didn’t see .co, but other extension are also included if you hold onto the “.COM” button a little longer. They include .net, .edu, .org, Browsing on such a relatively small screen, still take some getting use to. PoorUncle.com looks pretty on the iPhone screen. :) Lastly, while we were talking to a friend over the iPhone (they were equally excited that their phone arrived today), with a touch of a button, and enabling wifi, we were able to see each other via “Face Time”. Sweet. Now I just need to wait for my iPhone case to arrive to protect my prized possession.

I am not a professional domainer. In fact, I have never sold one domain names (by choice so far). I am writing this as a beginner sharing what I learn to do in the past few days to put my domain names in front of interested buyers. This is pretty elementary stuff. I registered my first domain name  more than 2 years ago and I only learn this last  few days. So hope some of you will find it useful.

But first lets step back, and let me offer my insights why I think web beginners should learn to flip domain names and build up a steady income stream by buying and selling domain names. From personal experience, making money on the internet is hard work and furthermore, hard work does not guarantee making any money. I am not suggesting that flipping domain names is all that you will do, but it should be part of your over all web venture strategy.

I started with about a dozen domain names back in June of 2010 and slowly build it up to about 90-100 names as of today. I made about $75 from parking these names so far. I have one website that made a couple thousands dollar last year, but it requires work. In the past 8 months I tried to built out a dozen or more websites. But I have not been very successful at monetizing them due to a lack of content and focus…since I had so many websites to manage. It was hard enough to launch them, let alone trying to monetize them. Lesson learned, it is better to concentrate on one website, than to spread it around a dozen websites.

Now back to selling domain names. In the past 8 months, I had 4 offers: Text2God. com $500, TVDinner. co $250, $100, CosmeticSurgeons. co $300. I rejected all 4 offers.  But, you can do the math…and with a bit of negotiation, you can see that I could have made well over $1000 (maybe even $2000) without having to do any work. I am not suggesting selling domain names is easy, but simply that there are money to be made.

Here are the 2 ways to put your domain names in front of interested buyers, and it is free.

1. Sedo – Did you know that you can list your domain names with Sedo without having to park your domain names there? Unlike many parking website providers, Sedo will work with beginners like us, who only have a few hand registered domain names. I have set up an account with Sedo, but chose to park my domain names with Whypark so that my domain names will get indexed by search engine. (Whypark is another parking website provider willing to work with beginners – someone with few domain names and no premium domain names). Since I parked with Whypark, I removed my domain names from Sedo not knowing that I could still list my domain names with Sedo to take advantage of its vest domain name marketing channels. Well, now I know…and I am listing all my domain names with Sedo, and it is Free!

2. GoDaddy – If you are a web newbie like me, chances are you registered your domain names with GoDaddy. If your domain names are with GoDaddy, goto GoDaddy’s premium listing and set a price for your domain names. Next time someone search for a domain name similar to yours on GoDaddy, your domain name will be presented as a premium domain name, and buyer has the option to buy your domain name at your set asking price. GoDaddy does charge a steep commission of 30% and it could take up to 45 days or more before the money is in your account.

Now my challenge is to price my domain names correctly. Learned from my stock investment failure of the 2000′s, I don’t want to hold my domain names too tightly but at the same time, I don’t want to leave too much money on the table. I think what I would do is to identify the domain names that I think will have long term values – like CosmeticSurgeons. co, SoyMilk. co – while price the others at very reasonable prices – like maybe $250? Let say I am able to sell 50 of my domain names at that price – that represents about half of my portfolio – would yield a nice extra income for the year of $12,500!!! To tell you the truth I’d be happy to make $5,000. For a beginner, it would have taken quite a bite of work and luck to monetize $5,000 from websites in the first couple of years, IMO.

There are a few auction websites for buying and selling websites. One of the popular one is Flippa.com. I hardly ever visit these sites since I am a newbie and don’t have the money nor the technical knowledge to buy a website. I also heard that these kind of websites have a lot of scammers. So as I newbie, I steer clear of these websites.

Recently I visited Flippa because one of the domaining blog highlighted a nice profitable website that was sold on Flippa for $130K (if memory served). I went to Flippa out of curiosity to learn about this website and I found abundant of information provided by the seller to back up the website’s revenue. It was quite detail. Most of these information would not have been disclosed if the seller were not in pursue of a buyer. By reading the information disclosed by the buyer I learned a lot about the different ways that websites monetize. Flippa also has a great feature where interested buys are able to ask sellers to disclose certain information or for clarification of certain issues…and most of these information provided is available for everyone to read not just the people who are bidding on the website. I like to go to the “recently sold” session and learn about these websites.

Here are a few things I learned yesterday by reading websites that were sold on Flippa.

1. Onlywire.com – It’s a tool that auto publish your content to other social networks, like facebook and twitter. You can signup for an account and get 300 free auto publishing per month. If you want more than you will have to pay. Obviously this is done to build backlinks and to drive traffic to your website.

2. Community of Guest Bloggers – A technique use by bloggers to “guest” on your website to drive traffic to theirs. It’s a win-win. You get free content, and they are rewarded with backlinks, and traffic. (My understanding is, the content is unique, not duplicate).

3. CPA Lead – It’s an affiliate program that fronts a freebie with a survey. For example, if you have a website that gives away free ebooks, you would required the visitor to fill out a short survey before able to down your free ebook. You get paid everytime a survey is filled out.

4. AutoBlogging Plugin – This is a WP plugin that works with Onlywire.com

There are more stuff I learned…but that’s all I remember. Good luck, and have a great and happy new year. 2011 here we come, ready or not!

Though, I am not a Christian, as a family man with kids, I love the Christmas Holiday. I like to thank all my neighbors near and far for putting up all the beautiful mesmerizing Christmas lights. My wife and I drive the kids around the neighborhood every night looking at the Christmas lights. It is one of our favorite thing to do around Christmas. I also like to thank all the radio stations for playing Christmas songs. It makes me happy listening to Christmas songs. Finally, a heart felt THANK YOU to Bass Pro Shops for the free photo with Santa. We take our 2 toddlers to take a photo with Santa every year. Christmas is a wonderful magical time. Hope everyone has a happy and Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas…Merry Christmas…Merry Christmas…HoooHoooHooo…..

I have always wanted to announce to the world how grateful I am to America. Now that I have my own blog I can!

I am a man who hardly cry. I did not shred any tears even when my dad passed away (God bless his soul). Yet, I sobbed and get goose bumps when I hear patriotic songs like America the Beautiful. She is indeed beautiful and generous! As a child of a refugee family who came to America in the 1980′s with nothing, I can speak to its greatness and had experienced its generosity many times over.

Thanks for the roof over our head, the food on our table, and the freedom you provided. Thank you American. May you live Eternally and shine a beacon of hope in all dark corners of the world. God bless America – My country, my home.
