I am interested in learning and get involved with making money by selling for as long as I can remember. Back in Communist North Vietnam in the 70’s, my mom has a little fruit stand across from a local movie theater. I have fond memory of spending time behind the fruit stand eating a plum or a star fruit as a little kid. Later I found out, the stand was only a front. She was actually selling over-the-counter pharmaceutical drugs which were not permitted by Communist Vietnam. If you get caught you go to jail! It turned out that was our only source of income. Entrepreneurship in Third world counties is not a Get- Rich-Quick proposition, but rather, is a matter of survival.

Perhaps it was from my encounter with entrepreneurships as a child, I have always been partial to being my own boss. As an adult, I have been an independent I.T. contractor for the past 12 years. It really changed my perception about work. As a contractor, I get paid by the hour. More work means more money. Also, I can set my own hours. Depending on the nature of the project, I can come in to work late and stay later. That really helps since I am not a morning person. I also routinely woken up 2-3am in the morning to provide production support which I have no hesitation doing. (More work, more money). When my skill sets were in demand in the late 90’s and early 2000, I’d work my ass off with multiple clients. Life really sucked, but money was good and I was happy not having to worry about where my next paycheck will be coming from.

As much as I enjoy being an independent I.T. contractor, my passions are in investing and creating a product/service and sell it at a profit. I have tried many different selling gigs since my High School days, including: selling knifes, MLM selling water filters, selling insurance, selling real estates, back to MLM selling health beverage, and MLM selling pre-paid legal services. NONE made me a single penny.

Not until last year, that I received my very first commission check in the amount of $221.99 from my internet affiliate company, Linkshare. I worked 4 long months and spent many long nights to earn enough commission to get my first check. It was the hardest $221.99 I earned. I done it to show my wife once and for all that one of my many many ideas can and do make money. I’ll make sure never to bring up another idea to her, until I make some money doing it first.

Well, I still have my first internet affiliate commission check and every subsequent checks I received sitting in my bank account. These commission checks are like trophies to me. They mean more to me than any pay checks I have ever received. Making money from an idea, and basically out of nothing is very appealing to me.
