Comments Deleted For the past couple of days I have been busy posting comments on popular blogs. As taught by an experienced domainer, the objective was to build back links to my blog by writing quality comments. As a newbie, I am eager to learn and keep an open mind to follow advices to see whether they yield results. I came to the conclusion today that there are 2 objectives why I am commenting on popular domain name investing blogs. Mainly to learn and to build some back link whenever appropriate. With these objectives in mind, I have came to the realization that I need to read more than I comment, and when I do comment I need to be mindful of the fact that commenting on someone else’s blog is a privilege not a RIGHT. However, you guys can comments on my blog as much as you like. I will appreciate you that much more. :)

Here are two examples of what not to do and ultimately I think lead to my comment being deleted.

I was reading this post yesterday from a popular blog describing the time wastefulness of Social Media and how this Pro thought that there could be great opportunity for smart use of Social Media. He went on to describe how cheap content is these days. In fact, it is so cheap that it is free and people would beg you to syndicate their content if you have traffic. However, he did not disclose the sites he had developed using the said free content.

My comment in response to his post goes something like this:

Newbie wanting to learn. Decoding message…Free content good, smart Social Media usage better, but teasers the best. Conclusion, there are no free lunches. File this under For Future Reference.

Lesson Learned: Do not piss your host off if you want to learn and benefit from his knowledge. He does not owe you any information.

Another example, happened today.

I was reading this domainer’s blog about security breach and stolen domain name from a popular registry (that professional domainers like to use) and his recommendation for improvement.

As a newbie, I was eager to share the positive experience I have had with GoDaddy in terms of how well they kept me informed everytime I made changes to my account and to my domain names. I went as far as saying that GoDaddy was the best, second to none and suggested that professional domainers (though never recommended)  widely use said registry was due to perks and lower cost structure offered by said registry. Consequently my comments were deleted.

Lesson Learned: While domain investing and blogging maybe a hobby to me and to many others, it is a real business for professional domainers. Their livelihood is on the line. It is never wise to bite the hands that feed you.

  1. Thanks for sharing the post. You managed to build many backlinks with postings on many related websites.

In result, you will generate traffic to your site, and increase the value of your website.

  2. Actually wasn’t my intent to build back links. I am trying to learn and participate and hopefully gain knowledge. This blog is really just for my reference. I hope some people will find it useful too. I use this blog to test and play with technique and tools I came across, and write about it so I will have some point of reference in the future. I wanted to share it with my nieces and nephews. But seeing how difficult it is to make money on line, I’ve not let them know fearing that it’ll consume their time with no financial rewards in sight.
