A few years ago, it took me months to finally find out how to get Amazon affiliate links (which is in iFrame versus the regular HTML codes) to open in a new window. Today I was trying to add an Amazon link to one of my websites and it took me a few search to finally find out how it is done.

Hope this will save you some time and frustration when working with Amazon affiliate links.

By default all Amazon links open on the same window/tab:

MRZX02&f=ifr” width=”125″ height=”125″ scrolling=”no” border=”0″ marginwidth=”0″ style=”border:none;” frameborder=”0″>

To open link in new tab add &lt1=_blank.

To open link in new window  add &lt1=_new.

Enjoy! And, thanks to Digitizor.com for reminding me how it is done.

Uncle may be old…but or maybe that’s why he loves to know where the money is.
Without a doubt America is the best place for average Joe to make a buck. Big buck if you are lucky and talented.
According to Business Week, the 2011 top 10 richest zip codes in America are:

1. Palm Beach, Florida – 33480
2. Old Westbury, New York – 11568
3. Kenilworth, Illinios – 60043
4. Beverly Hills, California – 90210
5. Portola Valley, California – 94028
6. Bel Air, California – 90077
7. Gladwyne, PA – 19035
8. Purchase, New York – 10577
9. Los Altos, California – 94022
10. Santa Monica, California – 90402

As you can see half of the list richest zip codes are in California. For a screw up & indebted state, we sure have a lot of rich people here. Next time you want to make some money, target these zip codes. To make money – go where the money is!

I registered my first .xxx, eBusiness.xxx, domain name yesterday. Before I had a chance to forward my domain name to my hosting account to create a “coming soon” page, I get this email from Godaddy. It required me to become a member of the sponsored community in order to launch an .xxx website. I am suppose to get an authentication email from ICM Registry (.XXX Registry) within 24 hours of my domain request to get my Member Id to become a member of the sponsored community.

As of this write, I still have not receive any email from ICM Registry. Below is the email I receive from Godaddy when I registered eBusiness.xxx.

Update:

Just got my authentication email from ICM Registry this morning to get my .XXX Membership ID.

I just registered my first .XXX domain name, eBusiness.XXX. I love to join the party and try something new. If you never try, you will never know. My first choice was Porn0.xxx. But, of course it was taken. Let see if I will have better luck with .XXX than I did with .CO. I know nothing about the XXX industry. But, I know enough to know that porn helped increase the usage of the internet in the early days…and I believe a lot of traffic is still going towards adult oriented websites. I’d love to learn about the online business of porn. So this domain name would be best served as a Business-to-Business porn industry directory. Will keep you posted if I plan on doing anything with this domain name. Most likely I won’t be developing it anytime soon. If anyone is interested in partnering to build a business around this domain name, please let me know what is your BIG ideas.

I bought an economical GoDaddy web hosting account when I created my very first affiliate deal website back in 2008. This hosting plan can only host 1 website. The website speed used to be extremely slow – almost to the point of not usable. I have wanted to move the website to a different web hosting company, like HostGator, since I have an account there when I created this blog last year.

I bought a “Baby Plan” hosting from HostGator. As you can tell the speed is okay. But I wish it can be a lot faster.

For the past month or so, I have been noticing that my website, Bargainsaddict.com, hosted with GoDaddy is flying to my pleasant surprise. I just thought I let you know just in case you register your domain names with GoDaddy and had bad experience with their hosting service before, you may want to give them a second look.

I frequently listen on the radio to a talk show host name Dennis Prager. He founded an On Line University to teach American Values a few years ago and one of the first 5 minutes online video courts he made was titled – The American Trinity. I was browsing around his website today and notice that he had created a 4th of July ceremony complete with instructions and artifacts to help us Americans to celebrate this important day meaningfully. I love rituals and ceremonies. Let me know if you will use it to help celebrate your next 4th of July.

We all have been taught as a child not to talk to strangers. Though, it may be sound advice when we were kids, this teaching followed us for the rest of our lives. As I am sitting here tonight reflecting on life. I think one can never overstate the importance of common sense and that we need to instill that in our children for those with kids, and to nurture that ability in ourselves.

Common sense tells us not to talk to strangers while in a dark alley. Common sense tells us to avoid strangers following us in a car and offer us a ride. Common sense tells us that if you are a woman to avoid bars that are known for drunks and druggies.

But, beyond that we really should make an effort to talk to strangers. If you think about it – we come in contact with strangers the second we were born – meet our parents for the first time, first day of pre-school – interact with teachers and other kids for the first time without our parents around, first day of a new job – work with new co-workers, first day moving into a neighborhood – say hi to Jerry the noisy neighbor, first time we met our spouse – honey, I knew you were the one, when we are sick admitting to a hospital – meet our surgeons & the lazy careless nurse, when we are dying our family admit us to a hospice – hopefully a compassionate staff that we manage to pissed of…because we are dying, and when we are dead – meet our God, or the devil for the first time.

So as you can imagine, what a difficult life it would be to be afraid of strangers all of our lives. My advice for you and for myself…talk and interact with strangers as much as possible while avoid strangers when the situation warrant it. Use common sense.

Commit this to memory.

I don’t have many .CO domain names. Just about a dozen. I forget these domain names were set for automatic renewal. So Today..well yesterday I received an invoice from GoDaddy that they renewed all of my domain names. It goes to show that I am not crack out to play the domain game since I am so unorganized.

The fault was all mine for not renew my domain names ahead of time, so I ended up having to pay the full price..$29.99 per name. Curious why GoDaddy waited until the last day to do the automatic renewal. They usually do them a few weeks ahead of time with other extensions. Which gives me time to called them to cancel the invoice and manually pick the domain name I want to renew and to take advantage of coupon & special promotion. But not this time, since it was done on the last day…if I cancel it goes to redemption which will cost me more money to claim the name if I wish to renew.

Anyway, I kept the following names…and each one costed me $29.99 ouch!! Not a lot of money for most. But I am a poor uncle remember? With my wife’s permission, I kept the followings:

CosmeticSurgeons.Co (Had 1 low-ball offer)
SoyMilk.Co (No offer yet…can’t understand why not)
TVDinner.Co (Had multiple offers)
AZO.Co (No offer yet)
GOR.Co (No offer yet)

I dropped the rest of my .Co domains…mainly Geo names of small cities nearby my home…and Durian.Co & OceanView.Co – I couldn’t think of what to do with these names with a .Co extension. I think I will stick with .com going forward.

I read a post on Domain Shane blog today about where he list and sell his domain names. I was reading through the comment and he stated that he made $30K in domain sales in the past couple of years. Not sure if $30K  per year or for the past couple of years. But that’s not important. $15K/year or $30/year it is still decent money. He also said that most of his name are sold for $1500-$3000 with 1 or 2 in the $5K range.

I took a shot and asked him what was his average cost per domain name…and how much does he net from monetizing all of his websites including his blog. To my surprise he answered my question and didn’t gave me a lecture on how it is none of my business. Thanks Shane. I love hard cold data.

@ Rich Uncle pretending to be poor

My average cost overall is most likely $150 or so. Over the last few years my average cost for recent additions is $400 due to the higher quality name I’ve been purchasing. I am hoping the average sale increases as well. As for the blog and sites. Blogs approx average $1K a month and climbing. Sites $500 to $1000 a month with low end being winter and high summer. I think I can double site income easily if I focus more. I have the pictures and data, just need to put them up.
